James Bond made martinis a worldwide favorite. Now it’s the girls’ turn.
The pop culture phenomenon “Sex in the City” captures the allure of the martini drink as a quartet of women discuss life and love in New York.
Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda all grab martinis when they enjoy relationship successes and also when they learn when, as Jack says, "He's just not that into you."
Much like Bond, the “fab four” seek the best in style and companionship as their martini drinks range from sweet to savory.
Martini recipes, like the flirtini echo the sexually charged innuendos/situations on the show even utilizing the fashion element by increasingly popular bright liqueurs could even match the girls’ outfits, (even their shoes).
This popular television series revitalized the popularity of the
Cosmopolitan martini, Carrie’s favorite. Other martini variations on the show include the sour apple martini.
Martini drinks like the pink martini contain the standard vodka (now eclipsing gin), popular fruit juice (in this case – cranberry) and another supporting flavoring liqueur (like little triple sec).
Of course there’s always the classic vodka martini, which you can have, as Samantha says, straight up or with a twist. The popular television series “Sex in the City” drew audience closer to four sophisticated, neurotic women and the martini. Fabulous!
